RECIPES FROM THE PAST: NUT LASSIES

Delectable mini pies for special days.

                                            NUT LASSIES

One of the favorites on my holiday plate of cookies was Nut Lassies. They seemed to disappear before many of the traditional  cookies. You will need special pans to make these, but the investment is well worth it. You might find yourself  making them on non -holiday times.

NUT LASSIES

  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 – 3 oz. pack cream cheese
  • 1 cup flour

Cream together.  Make 24 balls to line tart pans

Filling:

  •   ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash salt
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • ¾ cup chopped pecans

Bake at 425 for 15 min. then 250 for 5 min. Loosen edges in pan. Let stand 5 min.  Remove from pans.
