RECIPES FROM THE PAST: WAFFLES

Delicious for a meal or a snack.

                                                          WAFFLES

Most people enjoy waffles for breakfast but they are versatile for different times of the day. For instance they can be used as a snack or dessert with a fruit sauce, or as a luncheon or dinner with a chicken or other meat in a delicious gravy, or served simply with butter and powdered sugar any time. The choice is yours.

 

WAFFLES

Sift together:

  •   2 cups flour
  •   2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • Combine:
  • 2 egg yolks well beaten
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • Add to dry ingredients and beat til free of lumps.

Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake on hot waffle iron until steam stops.
