EASY POUND CAKE

Pound cake always has a place at the table, whether it be a special occasion or just something you whip up for the family. For those who prefer a simple cake with no icing. this is always a hit. It can also be eaten with a strawberry topping, ice cream, or a little butter. Anyway you slice it , it is a good choice. This recipe has been around a long  time, maybe over a hundred years.

EASY POUND CAKE

  •  6 eggs
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 ½ cups sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ sticks butter or margarine
  •   Pinch of salt
  • ¾ cup milk

Place all ingredient in large mixer bowl. Beat 30 min at medium speed.          Butter sides and bottom of 10 in. tube pan. Sprinkle with granulated  sugar. Pour batter into pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour plus 15 – 20 min. Cool in pan 10 min. Then turn onto wire rack until cool.
